Safety

  1. Have someone else nearby when you are exercising. This can be either a family member, friend, or trainer. If this is not possible, consider using a remote monitoring system.
  2. Less is better. While you do want to challenge yourself with your exercise routine, your focus should be steady, gentle steps of progress.
  3. Assess your workout environment by asking the following questions:

If you rely on a railing or object to keep you from falling, is that object stable?

Is your floor clear of obstacles and is the floor surface regular, non-slippery, and firm.

If you have balance issues, can you use straps or guards as a backup, in case you momentarily lose your balance while exercising.
