One of the keys to having a successful exercise program is to have the right equipment for exercising. Fortunately the necessary investment is minimal!
In addition to the equipment options listed below, having a flat, unobstructed place to walk is helpful. If you are unable to currently walk without assistance we can first focus on the more stationary exercise options.
Option 1. We have developed the AgeUpward Gym to provide a simple, safe, cost-effective, and compact workout station for seniors with mobility issues.
Option 2. You can utilize existing items in your home to provide a reasonable exercise environment. Some of the items you will need.
A solid chair that doesn’t slide. (potentially you can place it against a wall.
A mat, rug, or soft surface on the floor in an area where you can extend your arms and legs.
A bench on which you can lie down and are safe from rolling off.
a bar or parallel bars that you can hold onto while you are exercising. Ideally these bars should be at height that does not require you to bend over or slouch when grabbing them. It is possible you can position yourself between a wall and a couch to provide some level of support and safety.
A step or stairs that are non-slip with adequate railings for support.
Option 3.
You can purchase individual pieces of equipment to suit your needs
A weight bench
Parallel bars
a bar for hanging
